Lia Winter, founder of Winter Innovations, has invented a novel surgical tool called EasyWhip^TM that improves orthopedic procedures to repair torn ligaments and tendons. Despite advances in orthopedics, the failure rate for this type of procedure is still high, with as many as 20% of patients requiring subsequent surgery. Stitching of the graft, called whip stitching, is a critical part of the surgery. EasyWhip^TM is a specialty needle designed to provide the user with benefits of ease of use, speed, stability, and versatility. For patients, improvements in the stitching process reduce the chance of graft failure and can lead to better outcomes. Winter Innovations’ mission is to collaborate with practitioners to create a suite of medical products that address overlooked aspects of orthopedic surgery, with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes.
