Kara Finger

Kara Finger began her career in nonprofit work, dedicating 17 years to serving the East Tennessee community. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Family Studies from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and immediately joined Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee. Over the course of 11 years, Kara rose through the ranks from intern to Vice President of Programs, demonstrating a deep commitment to youth and mentorship.

She then took on the role of Executive Director at Wesley House Community Center, where she led the organization through a transformative period. Under her leadership, Wesley House raised over $2 million in order to transform the building so the organization could achieve licensing through the Tennessee Department of Human Services for the first time in its 118-year history—a milestone that expanded its capacity to serve families and children.

In August 2024, Kara transitioned into public service, accepting a position with the City of Knoxville as Deputy Policy Officer. In this role, she continues to advocate for equitable policies and community-centered initiatives.
